First Post

I finally have a halfway passable website up for public viewing. It was both fun and easier than anticipated.

After a long time of barebones websites, I finally decided to make a bit more visually complicated website. Luckily, modern tools like jekyll have made this process far easier than ever anticipated.

After perusing many interesting designs such as hyde, kiko-now, and gravity, I ultimately chose hydeout, because it’s currently maintained, and I find it very easy to make blog posts.

Beyond specializing the template with my name, updating the favicon and removing all the basic blog posts, I ultimately removed the icons on the side that I felt were unnecessary. I’m delighted by both how easy jekyll is to use and how abundant beautiful open source templates are. It feels far more natural and intuitive to write in markdown and let the computer convert to html for me. I’m grateful to have discovered such a wonderful tool.
